The Mill

This converted mill is something one finds in Montreal’s old port. The conversion was beautifully done making each unit unique. With some light commercial on the lower level with the renowned fabric store that moved from Ottawa - Darrell Thomas Textile on the main floor you have a sense of being in the hub of a growing community. This main floor unit also affords someone to run an office or shop out of the space - fantastic designer or architects space.

The Apartment

This bright, expansive apartment is positioned on the main floor of what is known as the Victoria Woolen Mill. Overhanging the Grand Falls of the thriving  town of Almonte. Built in 1800’s it was one of the first Mills to be converted and was transformed into a fully residential condo building in 2015

As you walk into the building the suite opens off the main floor, but it is built into the stone walls of the waterfall, thus positioning your apartment high and providing sensational views of the water.

The exterior spaces retain many of their original Mill stone features  and materials, while the suite has some lingering historic accents the feeling is a wonderful blend of classic detailing that chimes beautifully with the contemporary additions and renovations.

The Spaces:

The majority of the 1750 square foot plan is given over to a beautiful open plan kitchen and massive living areas positioned in front of a row of floor to ceiling windows to bathe the spaces with wonderful levels of natural light and provide views over the water and waterfall. These spaces are incredibly bright and have a real sense of volume, accentuated by the use of expansive windows and wood floors as well as recessed lighting. The kitchen is positioned behind an island that serves as a dining bar, with quartz tops. A perfect island for entertaining or use as a buffet area for those large parties.  There are integrated quality appliances and a convenient butlers pantry area that provides further storage and the  a compact dishwasher as well as utility counter and bar sink. There is in this area a laundry  and the second bathroom that is fully redone with classic yet elegant appointments.

Just at the end of the kitchen in front of one of the large windows is a lovely area for either a breakfast table or is the perfect place to sit with a book or admire the views of the waterfall. The main rooms all run beautifully along the length of the suite capturing water views and providing a completely unique living space. There Is an area just off the main rooms that can provide a slightly more private tv lounge area. Again, with striking views out the floor to ceiling windows.

To one side of the entrance sits a guest bedroom, or the perfect office/den with a pocket door to provide privacy. Opposite, the master bedroom suite is configured to offer a wall of built-in custom closets as well as a dressing area, which in turn opens to the full ensuite bathroom with a walk-in glass shower and heated slate floors.

There are two water facing spacious  balconies that literally hang over the water for you to enjoy either dining or relaxing  and watching the ever changing landscape of the falls.
